‘MiiRA’ IS ONE TO WATCH

Successful Australian millinery label MiiRA, pronounced mee-rah, is bursting onto the London/European fashion scene and will be one to watch!

MiiRA, from the Latin word ‘mirus’, meaning wonderful, extraordinary, to be admired, is the creation of Australian milliner, Grace Cabot.

The label focuses on stunning detail with sculptured textures and patterns of dynamic proportions, using raw material with vintage jewellery and feathers.  Styles include cocktail, men’s, model, fascinator, couture, floral and bridal millinery.

Launched into the Australian retail market in 2005, the label had early success as a finalist in the 2006 Melbourne Cup Fashion On The Field (designer award). The MiiRA label was invited to appear at the 2007 Asia Pacific Rosemount Australian Fashion Week in Sydney. In 2008 Candace Bushnell (author of Sex and the City) wore a MiiRA creation while judging Fashion On The Field, Melbourne Cup 2008.

Founder Grace Cabot studied Fashion Design at Marleston College, with millinery a key focus. There is a history of millinery and fashion in Grace’s family, which can be traced back to the Austrian Court.

Grace says: ‘I adore all things glamorous and aspire to create captivating, flamboyant and unique headpieces.

The inspiration for my designs comes from the myriad of shapes, forms, materials and textures of nature. These are entwined with architecture, film, golden years of Hollywood and current fashion and design.’

The focus of the Collection is sculptured forms and stunning detail with dynamic proportions.  The colour palette includes sapphire, jet-black, metallic gold, scarlet, fuchsia, jade and platinum.

With exceptional one-off designs and contemporary finishes, the MiiRA label created by milliner Grace Cabot is one to watch!
